Evaluation of the maxillary sinus and its relationship to the tooth roots, mucosal thickening, and sinus lesions of dental origin.
The maxillary sinus lies close to the roots of the posterior teeth, and many sinus problems are of dental origin. 3D imaging allows this region to be assessed in detail.
What is assessed
- Mucosal thickening and fluid levels
- Relationship of the tooth roots to the sinus floor
- Foreign bodies or filling material within the sinus
- Sinus septa prior to sinus-lift surgery
